May will be an exciting month as our students learn all about the continent of South America. We will discuss the land, people, and climate of South America. In addition to our South America unit, we will learn about whales and their migration patterns. Our literary focus will be on The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Students will explore the lifecycle of butterflies and will be given the opportunity to hatch their own butterfly! There are many events in May including Teacher Appreciation Week, Parent Teacher Conferences, the Scholastic Book Fair, and our Mother’s Day Tea. We look forward to a busy Spring filled with lots of learning and adventures!
Teacher Appreciation Week will be held May 6-10. Parents may bring in sweet treats on Monday, school supplies on Tuesday, Potluck items on Wednesday, Gift Cards/Appreciation Cards on Thursday, and Flowers on Friday. Please help us show all the staff how appreciated and loved they are! Our “Teacher Likes” binder will be placed at the sign in station to give parents ideas of what their teacher favorites!
The Scholastic Bookfair will be here May 6-10. This is a great time to stock up on some new books while helping the school earn free books!
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on May 16th and 17th. Sign-up sheets will be placed outside of your child’s classroom. Teachers are available to meet in person or by phone. Please note that school closes at 3pm. Childcare will be provided for parents while in conferences.
Please join us on Friday, May 10th for a Mother’s Day Breakfast! A light breakfast will be provided from 7:30-9:00. Your child’s classroom will be ready for you to sit, relax, and let your child handle the clean-up. They may even have a special gift for you. We hope to see you all there!
May 27th our school will be closed for Memorial Day! Have a wonderful month!
